Fire claims 5 kids, mother critical TIMES NEWS NETWORK
Thane: Five children of a family died after their house caught fire in Bhiwandi late on Saturday night. Police say a fire caused by a suspected short-circuit, and spread by a kerosene bottle near the switchboard, killed Priya Gupta (13), Riya (10), Nitin (8), Prity (5) and Nitesh (five months). Their mother Somkali is in hospital in a serious condition with 85% burn injuries.While two children died on the spot of burn injuries, neighbours said three kids could have been saved with timely treatment. They claimed that drivers of the ambulances demanded money midway to Sion Hospital for refuelling.
NCP flag touches power line, 4 killed Nitin Yeshwantrao TNN
Thane: Four youngsters were killed and 11 others injured during a rally by NCP supporters in Kalwa on Sunday when a flag-pole held by one of the victims touched a highvoltage overhead wire. Police said Ashok Rajput (18) was waving the 8-foot long flagpole made of cast iron when it came in contact with the 22KV wire. The electricity surged through the flagpole and into Rajput's body, killing him instantly.
Three other youths who were beside him, including his brother Ajay (17), too were electrocuted. Eleven others, including a mother of two, fell on the street after being hit by the high-voltage power surge.
